About
My research interests include gender and sexuality, language, and feminist translation studies. I have presented and published several interdisciplinary papers in these fields and translated books into Turkish such as Hanne Blank’s Virgin: The Untouched History. I am currently working on the Turkish translation and adaptation project of Our Bodies, Ourselves. I hold an MS in Women’s Studies from Towson University, Maryland. My thesis was on the social, medical, and legal construction of virginity in Turkey (see the website under homepage for a complete version of the thesis). I am currently a doctoral candidate at the Language, Literacy and Culture Ph.D. Program, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where I also teach feminist methodologies and global perspectives on gender and women at the Gender & Women’s Studies Program. I am writing my dissertation on the subject of feminist translation in the context of Turkey.
